Teacher Support and Coaching Endorsement (TSC) Begins in August at CPRESA
Story Date: 5/2/2018

CPRESA has earned GaPSC approval to offer the Teacher Support and Coaching (TSC) Endorsement program, aligned with Georgia Professional Standards Commission rules that upon successful completion results in two endorsements added to a teaching certificate: Teacher Support and Coaching (TSC) Endorsement and the Coaching Endorsement.

The goal of the TSC Endorsement is to train exemplary teachers to mentor and support beginning teachers, to supervise student teachers, and to support colleagues seeking to improve performance through reflection and modification of practice.

The blended format allows participants the flexibility of an online format blended with face-to-face sessions that promote interaction and reflection. Most job-embedded coursework will be completed online as candidates interact with a protégé and with colleagues in the school setting.

The two-course endorsement takes place over two semesters and is designed to assist TSC candidates in the acquisition of skills and competencies necessary to meet the needs and concerns of beginning teachers, student teachers, and colleagues. In the first course, candidates learn the skills; during the internship in the second course, candidates apply the knowledge and skills learned in the first course.

Candidates must hold a valid, renewable teaching certificate, have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrate a positive attitude toward the teaching profession, be willing to commit personal time in the support of beginning teachers, and be recommended by the local school principal. The school district must confirm that the candidate will be assigned a protégé and serve as a coach, teacher leader, or mentor during the second semester.

Potential candidates for the TSC Endorsement should understand that the rigor of the program is expected to be equivalent to a graduate degree program. Research and writing demonstrate an analytical ability such that ideas are not presented merely in a simplistic summary but provide an original investigation and analysis. The syllabus for each course should be reviewed prior to application and registration.
