Who: 

Georgia Statewide Trauma Action Team

 

What: 

Trauma Day at the Capitol, where several hundred Georgians, whose lives have been impacted by trauma care, or a lack of it, will urge lawmakers to pass legislation that would adequately fund a statewide trauma system. Trauma survivors, families of trauma victims, doctors, EMS providers, hospital representatives and others will be on hand to lend their support.

 

When:

Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

 

Where: 

The Georgia Railroad Freight Depot and the Capitol, Atlanta, Ga.

 

Scheduled to speak: (10:30 a.m.)

         Chad Black – Battalion Chief, Hall County Fire Services/ Business Development Manager, LifeNet Air Medical

         Tom Bell – Chairman and CEO, Cousins Properties and Board Member, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce

         Pam Russell – daughter-in-law of Coach Erk Russell/mother of a trauma survivor, Charlee Russell

         George Israel – President and CEO, Georgia Chamber of Commerce

         M. Todd Williamson, M.D. – President, Medical Association of Georgia

         Sen. Cecil Staton – Georgia Senate, District 18

         Rep. Austin Scott – Georgia House of Representatives, District 153

         Mike Polak – Executive Director of External Affairs, Memorial Health University Medical Center

                                   

Photo/video opportunities:

* Media interviews will be offered to speakers, trauma survivors (11:30 a.m.)

* Each guest will be handed a carnation to place on a memorial (11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.) on the Capitol steps. Each carnation has an attached quote from a different Georgia citizen impacted by trauma.
