by Tyler Barr on 7/10/2014

The Georgia PTA is sponsoring a State School Superintendent Candidates Forum, Friday, July 11, beginning at two o’clock in the afternoon, at the Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse, Atlanta, GA 30337.

All four candidates for state school superintendent — Michael Buck, Alisha Morgan, Valarie Wilson, and Richard Woods —have been invited and have agreed to participate in the forum.

“The purpose of this forum,” says Georgia PTA President Rita Erves, “is to give candidates for state school superintendent an opportunity to address policy issues vital to the future of Georgia’s education. These issues involve a range of crucial matters that include education funding, quality, equity, assessments, common core, and family engagement.”

The moderators, Tyler Barr, Legislative Policy Specialist and Dr. Detrius Jones, Education Chair for Georgia PTA, will ask each candidate the same opening question, which has been submitted in advance, followed by a series of questions. Members of the audience and the news media will then have an opportunity to ask candidates additional questions. ###
