Senate Bill 364 Unanimously Passes the House!

Thank you to everyone who joined in the grassroots effort to get SB 364 passed. With all our voices unified, we were able to make a difference for our students, teachers, and administrators. SB 364 passed the House today by Substitute. There were some changes to the original bill but the integrity of the bill held strong. It will now go back to the Senate for approval of the House changes.

Georgia PTA supports the language in Senate Bill 364 that reduces the percentage of testing used in teacher evaluations to 30% and in administrator evaluations to 40%. Lower emphasis on test scores in evaluations will result in more quality instruction time, which in turn will increase the learning opportunities for Georgia students. This bill also requires a student to be enrolled in a class for at least 90% of the school year before their assessments scores can be used for teacher evaluation.

The passage of this bill in definitely a win for our students, teachers, and administrators but it is one small token of what we can accomplish when we work together with one voice. Thanks everyone and I am proud to serve with you.
