The Core of the Work
by Kerri Felder on 7/24/2012

As principals across Georgia implement the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS), the Georgia Department of Education and West Georgia RESA are working together to inform, prepare, and support you in your work.

“The Core of the Work” is a year-long training and support series provided at no charge to you by GA DOE and West Georgia RESA. Georgia’s own Dr. Mark Wilson, a twenty-five year veteran of education who has spent the past fifteen years as a building administrator, will facilitate each of the sessions.

The goals of this year-long effort are: 1) to provide you the necessary information and tools to successfully implement the CCGPS at your school; 2) to prepare you to best support and serve your teachers in their work during this implementation; and, 3) to develop a cohort of principals in your RESA who can support, encourage, and assist each other as we continue this work over the coming years.

The dates and times of these sessions are listed below. All sessions will be conducted at the West Georgia RESA offices at 99 Brown School Drive, Grantville, GA.  Please make it a priority to attend these sessions as our work for the coming years depends upon successfully implementing the CCGPS. Each session will be brief and relevant.

*1 PLU is available at no charge for participants who attend all 4 sessions and complete formative and sumative session evaluation.

If you have questions or seek additional information, please contact RESA Director Rachel Spates at rspates@garesa.org or (770) 583-2528, ext. 633.
