West Georgia RESA Presents:  Your Link to STEM

Two Day STEM Mini-Conference

February 11-12, 2013

8:00am - 4:00pm

(Breakfast, Registration and Vendors Beginning at 7:00am)

The West Georgia RESA STEM Conference is a regional convening of system, school, and teacher leaders dedicated to increasing student success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in all grades. The purpose of this conference is to improve STEM education, better align instruction to local workforce needs, and to promote deeper understanding of STEM best practices and resources.

A few of the noted presenters include:
Dr. Juan-Carlos Aguilar, Science Program Manager, GDOE
Dr. Kelly Price, Curriculum Coordinator Science/Math/Gifted/Health-PE Programs, Forsyth County Schools, GSTA Director
Dr. Donald White, Science Curriculum Specialist, Coweta County Schools
Dr. Gilda Lyon, Program Specialist, Career, Technical and Agricultural Education, STEM
Mr. Mark Crenshaw, Program Specialist, Career, Technical & Agricultural Education, Engineering and Technology

Sessions will focus on the implementation of STEM disciplines in a manner that reflects the interdependence of STEM subjects, as well as sessions about unique partnerships and approaches employed by successful schools and systems.

Break-out sessions will emphasize the following tracks:
  • Leveraging Community Partnerships
  • Initiating a STEM Program and Climate
  • Engaging Students and Teachers in STEM Programs and Initiatives
  • The Integration of STEM and the Liberal Arts (K-12)
  • Web 2.0 Technology Tools (K-12)

*Must attend both days to receive PLU
