New Requirements for Certificate Renewal
by Kerri Felder on 4/6/2016

During the 2015 legislative session, the General Assembly voted to extend for two years the suspension of PLU requirements for certificate renewal, so PLUs are not currently needed for renewal. Beginning July 1, 2017, educators employed in Georgia will engage in continuous job-embedded professional learning in their schools, school districts, education agencies, or universities. Written Professional Learning Plans (PLPs) or Professional Learning Goals (PLGs) will be required for all certificate holders. From what we understand it will be the school district's decision as to how they keep track of professional learning for paraprofessionals.  Instead of issuing PLUs for seat hours, West Georgia RESA will issue certificates of completion (by request) so that participants can use our courses/workshops as part of their PLPs or PLGs.
