DADE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION SEEKS NEW SUPERINTENDENT

The Dade County Board of Education is conducting a search for the next Superintendent of the Dade County School System in anticipation of the retirement of the current Superintendent. The Board plans to advertise the Superintendent vacancy across Georgia by posting notices with the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA), the Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA), eBoard, and by mailings to school systems and Regional Educational Service Agencies (RESA) across the state.

The application form and related documents may be found on the Dade County School System website at www.dadecountyschools.org, or you may contact the Dade County Board of Education and request a copy. Applicants desiring additional information may contact Mrs. Carolyn Bradford, Chairman of the Board, by calling 706-657-4361 or by e-mail at carolynbradford@dadecountyschools.org.

For an application packet to be considered, it must contain the following:

  • A formal letter of application indicating a desire to be considered a candidate;
  • A completed application form (obtained from school system website or on request);
  • A copy of Georgia leadership certificate or evidence of eligibility for Georgia leadership certification 
  • Names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three (3) references
  • Submission of resume is optional

 

The Dade County Board of Education timeline for the Superintendent search is:

  • Deadline for receipt of applications -4:00 p.m. November 1, 2010
  • Application review and interviews conducted through November 2010
  • Tentative date to name new Superintendent – December 20, 2010
  • Tentative date for new Superintendent to report to work January 2011-take over official duties as Superintendent on July 1, 2011
