Day 31 at the Capitol
3/4/2014

The 2015 budget was passed out of Senate Appropriations Committee meeting this morning with very few changes. It will move on to the Senate Floor for a vote then to the House for agreement or conference committee then on to Governor for his signature. Not many changes but one to note is there is $200K that was added to a new line in the budget for two consultant positions ($150K) and $50K for increased funding for planning grants to help with IE2 and Charter System applications.

No education bills on the floor of either chamber today.

The Senate Education Committee passed the following bills out of committee:

HB 826 Redefining weapons and school zones

HB 405 Training for the Charter Boards

HB 766 Work Base Learning Act

One that was held for changes:

HB 886 Require two budget hearings for school systems and charter schools; must post on line

House Ed passed one bill out of committee:

SB283 Merry Christmas bill; allow holiday displays

Hearing tomorrow on SB 167 (COMMON CORE BILL) at 3pm in 606 CLOB. This ought to create some interest.
