House Passed FY16
Budget HB76 After several
weeks of budget hearings, the House passed the amended FY16 budget HB76. The proposed budget is very supportive of education, with full funding of QBE and additional equalization grant funding. The proposed budget reflects an improved economy. The state contribution to insurance for K-12, non-certified workers, working less than 30 hours, was shifted to the local Boards of Education. The additional cost will be $150.00 per qualified employee. The insurance issue will receive a great deal of discussion in the upcoming Senate hearings. An item that was not funded in the proposed FY16 budget is sparsity grants. Please make an effort to thank House members for their hard work to develop the budget that supports education. Also, please let Senators know how the additional cost of health insurance will affect your school system.
