Celebrating the Arts - Attention Students K-12 in HGRESA Member Schools

The Twelve Days of Christmas Display/Contest

 

Event:   HGRESA would like to challenge 1-3 student groups (Grades K-12)  from surrounding schools in the HGRESA area to create a display that is representative of the "Twelve Days of Christmas" song.  For example,  1-3 students from Treutlen County High School might sign up for the 5th day of Christmas; therefore, creating a display representative of 5 golden rings.  This will be our way of sharing the Christmas spirit with visitors and community members.

Student Selection:  Each of the 3 students will be provided a $25 gift certificate as a token of our appreciation for their work.  The displays will be judged and trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place entries.

Subject for Display:   Lyrics from the Christmas song "The Twelve Days of Christmas"

Focus of Event:  The HGRESA organization would like to display projects/artwork produced/created by students in our area.  This is a fun way for creative students to display art works, similar to a float, but longer lasting. 

Display Size:  4 feet by 8 feet  (Please try to stay close to these parameters.  Extensions can be made but we are trying to display 12 of these within available space.  HGRESA will "spotlight" the displays.  Base should be a 4 X 8 feet piece of plywood.

Names:  Please include name of district, school, and students on the display.  Please include chairperson’s contact information (telephone and email).

Target Deadline:   Tuesday, December 12

Announcement of Winners:  Wednesday, December 13 by 4:00 PM

 

Special Notes: 

  • Create some wonderful memories and interject some friendly "art" competition among students.

  • Parents/School staff are encouraged to join in the fun and help.

  • Please plan so that the display still looks great even if it rains.

  • Displays can be picked up any time after December 30.  Displays not picked up by January 5 will be discarded.

  • Since this is an outside event, districts are free to work on the displays at any time.  Please avoid parking on the street because of traffic flow.  Please park in the circle driveway area when working on the display.
