Attendees to the 2016 N.C. Aquaculture Development Conference took a behind-the-scenes tour of the NOAA research facility in Beaufort. More tours are planned for this year’s event.

If you’ve ever been curious about starting your own fish or shellfish farm, you won’t want to miss the annual N.C. Aquaculture Development Conference. The event is a great introduction to North Carolina’s growing aquaculture and mariculture industries. Activities include behind-the-scenes tours of current farms; educational workshops for new and veteran operators; an aquaponics workshop; and the popular Aqua-Foods Festival – an all-you-can-eat feast of the state’s finest aquaculture products.

The 2017 N.C. Aquaculture Development Conference will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in New Bern Feb. 8-11. Early-bird registration is available until February 2. You can find a complete schedule and registration information at www.ncaquaculture.org.
