WINTER WHEET SEEDINGS 2017 winter wheat seedings in North Carolina total 440,000 acres.

SOYBEAN OFF FARM GRAIN STOCKS Soybean off farm grain stocks totaled 19,058,000 bushels on December 1, 2016, a 49% increase to the 12,791,000 bushels reported on December 1, 2015.

COTTON SEED North Carolina farmers produced an estimated 110,000 tons of cotton seed in 2016.

CHICKEN EGGS South Atlantic Region: Broiler-Type eggs in incubators on December 1, 2016 totaled 250,667,000. The total was up 2% from the December 1, 2015 total of 245,715,000 eggs. The total number of Egg-Type eggs in incubators on December 1, 2016 decreased 12% from 5,361,000 eggs in 2015 to 4,703,000.

SOWS FARROWING
North Carolina producers intend to farrow 455,000 sows during the December 2016 – February 2017 quarter and 450,000 sows during the March – May 2017 quarter. 

PIG CROP
The State’s pig crop during the the September – November 2016 period totaled 4.74 million head, up 4% from the same period last year.

PIGS PER LITTER
Pigs saved per litter during the September-November 2015 period averaged at 10.3, which is up from the 10.15 pigs saved during the same quarter last year.

HOGS AND PIGS
Hogs and pigs on North Carolina farms December 1, 2016 totaled 9.3 million head, up 1% from September 1.
