State closes 2,450 acres of water to shellfish harvesting

The president of the N.C. Shellfish Growers Association is concerned the state's decision to close 2,450 acres of water up and down the coast to shellfish harvesting could be indicative of water quality problems. "It's almost a canary in the coal mine," said Jay Styron, who farms oysters on Cedar Island.
