Food Summit fosters new and expanding small business

Eric Nelson has experienced first-hand the successes and failures of the restaurant business in Fayetteville.
His venture into the fast-food bagel business, Big City Bagels & Deli on Santa Fe Drive, failed to ring up the register enough in the late 1990s. Fayetteville was in the midst of a bombardment of bagel shops at the time. His thinking was that soldiers from nearby Fort Bragg and, in particular, those who grew up north of the Mason-Dixon Line, would be clamoring for bagels and cream cheese.
