Former N.C. Rep. Susi Hamilton, D-New Hanover, appears headed to swift confirmation to serve as secretary of the state Department of Natural and Cultural Resources after a Senate committee on Thursday voted 11-3 to recommend her approval.
"I'm glad it's behind us," Hamilton said after the vote. Hamilton told members of the Senate Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Committee that she views the department's role as the parks and cultural sites as contributing to both economic development and job growth.
