Pilgrim's Pride to invest $13M in Triad hatchery, add 17 jobs

Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., a poultry producer based in Greeley, Colo., is reopening a hatchery in Randolph County that it had shuttered a few years ago, with plans to invest $13 million in renovations and equipment while also adding up to 17 jobs.
Company officials could not be reached. But Kevin Franklin, vice president of Randolph County Economic Development Corp., told TBJ that that the company (NYSE: PPC) is in the process of renovating the feed mill and investing in the hatchery located in Staley that closed down "five or six years ago."
