Krispy Kreme's owner plans to buy Panera Bread for $7.5 billion

The privately held owner of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. is expanding its breakfast reach by offering to buy Panera Bread Co. for $7.5 billion. JAB Holdings Inc. said it would pay $315 per share for Panera, representing a 20 percent premium over Panera’s all-time share price high and a 30 percent premium from its March 31 closing price.
