BAT's $49.4B deal for Reynolds gains Japanese anti-trust approval

Reynolds American Inc. said Wednesday that British American Tobacco Plc has received unconditional antitrust approval from Japanese regulators to secure full ownership of Reynolds. Reynolds’ independent board of directors announced Jan. 17 that it had accepted BAT’s second offer, in which BAT would acquire the 57.8 percent of Reynolds it doesn’t already own.
