N.C. House votes to curtail lawsuits against farms

The state House voted 68-47 on Monday to limit the monetary damages a someone can get from a farm that generates odors or other nuisances for nearby properties. But the bill was first amended in a tight 59-56 vote to prevent the legislation from affecting 26 pending lawsuits filed by 541 people against Smithfield Foods.
