Sweet Potato growers intend to plant 90,000 acres, down 8% from last year.
Corn plantings are expected to total 950,000 acres in 2017, down 5% from 2016.

CHICKEN EGGS
South Atlantic Region: Broiler-Type eggs in incubators on March 1, 2017 totaled
253,496,000. Te total was up 1% from the March 1, 2016 total of 250,192,000
eggs. The total number of Egg-Type eggs in incubators on March 1, 2017
decreased 8% from 5,276,000 eggs in 2016 to 4,843,000.
SOWS FARROWING
North Carolina producers intend to farrow 455,000 sows during the March–
May and 450,000 during the June–August 2017 quarters.
PIG CROP
Te State’s pig crop during the December 2016 – February 2017 period totaled
4.5 million head, unchanged from the same period last year.
PIGS PER LITTER
Te number of pigs saved per litter averaged 9.9, which is unchanged from the
9.9 pigs saved during the same quarter last year.
