Torrential, hurricane-type rains early last week did a number on many farms that had emerged corn.  NC State Extension corn specialist Dr. Ron Heiniger says corn under water for more than 72 hours is probably lost:“Yes, indeed. There’s places where the water is running off, and we’ve had flooding, along particularly streams like the Tar River..."
