Butterball has announced an expansion program at the United States Cold Storage facility in Warsaw, N.C., which currently serves as the turkey company’s southeast distribution center.

The expansion plan includes the construction of a new 145,000-sq.-ft. cold storage warehouse and distribution facility on 45 acres of land at the United States cold Storage complex. The addition is equipped with 65-foot refrigerated docks and convertible storage rooms, each featuring flexible storage temperature controls. The facility also features advanced refrigeration systems, LED lighting, updated security measures and cutting-edge fire suppression technology, according to a Butterball news release.

The new facility is expected to handle more than 600 million pounds of product annually for Butterball, which said the project will help it meet growing demand for its turkey-based products.
