The pending closure of a Food Lion in east High Point later this month is prompting community leaders to explore a grocery co-op to fill the void, an approach that took leaders in neighboring Greensboro 18 years to accomplish. City Councilman Chris Williams, who represents Ward 2 where the Food Lion on East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Food Lion is slated to close by June 15, tells the High Point Enterprise that a co-op is being considered...
