Statement from Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler

“I am aware of the State Auditor’s recent press conference, and it’s unfortunate she is waffling on the safety of the Grade “A” milk supply. When pressed on this issue, the auditor refused to clarify her position on whether Grade “A” milk is safe or not.

“I am not unclear about that issue. I am confident in the safety of the Grade “A” Milk supply in North Carolina, and the processes in place to ensure its safety.

“I can only say with regards to the cooperation of the department, there seems to be a disconnect between the auditor and her staff, based on feedback we got during this auditing process. [Note the email from the auditor’s office to our staff below.] 

“We really wish we could see more value in an audit that cost over $600,000 and took more than 7,300 man-hours to complete, but it’s just not there.”
