Some farmers wish rain would stop

In the latest crop progress report for conditions through Sunday, June 25th there were 4.6 days suitable for field work in North Carolina, compared to just shy of 7 the previous week.   Charles Mitchell with Franklin County Extension reports that the county needed rain two weeks ago and now it needs to stop so crops can develop a root system and grow. Target spot has shown up on tobacco and downy mildew has shown up over the last two weeks. The corn crop is looking promising once again.
