Pilgrim’s Pride is taking steps to sever its ties to a contract chicken grower in Hull, Ga., in the wake of undercover video footage alleging animal abuse by farm employees.

The company launched its own investigation of the contractor this week after the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) released the video showing workers abusing birds at the poultry farm. HSUS has also asked local authorities to consider filing animal abuse charges in Georgia and Texas, where a separate video shows two workers punching birds and using unnecessary force while handling chickens.
