Furniture manufacturer adding jobs in N.C.

Sutter Street Manufacturing plans to invest $1.9 million to expand in Catawba County, creating 72 new jobs over the next three years, according to an announcement from Gov. Roy Cooper's office yesterday. Sutter Street, established in 2007 with 25 associates, makes upholstered home furnishings for Williams-Sonoma Inc. (NYSE:WSM) through brands like Pottery Barn, West Elm and Williams-Sonoma Home. The company now employs 583 at the Catawba County site.
