You would have to go back nine years to appreciate the meaning of just what this documentary film means to workers at the Smithfield Packing Co. plant in Bladen County. Mattie Fulcher of Lumberton was one of those ecstatic employees, when on Dec. 11, 2008, the plant announced that 2,041 workers voted in favor of a collective bargaining union for the hog-processing plant along N.C. 87, not far from the Cumberland County line.
