Some early-planted NC corn starting to dry down

In the latest crop progress report for conditions in North Carolina through Sunday, July 9th, there were six days suitable for field work, compared to 5.8 the previous week.  Mac Malloy with Robeson County Extension reports that corn is looking good and has benefited from timely rains during critical period. Corn earworm pressure seems high. Soybean planting coming to an end.
