Trump nominates NC voting maps defender to federal bench

President Donald Trump on Thursday nominated Raleigh attorney Thomas Farr, who has defended various voting maps in North Carolina drawn by the Republican-led General Assembly, to a vacancy on the federal bench.
If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Farr would fill a seat in the federal Eastern District of North Carolina that has been open for almost 12 years, when Judge Malcolm Howard took senior status, a form of semi-retirement accorded federal judges.
