The Piedmont Triad Farmers Market will be open for business Saturday following cleanup from a tornado that hit there Thursday night.

The farmers and retail buildings, plus A.B. Seed Inc., Super Sod and the Moose Cafe, will be open their normal hours, said market manager Rick Cecil.

The N.C. CASI Chili Championship also will go on at the market as scheduled. The event will benefit the Epilepsy Medication Fund.

A tornado hit the market at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. It damaged produce and plants and knocked down a block wall at Farmers Building No. 1, Cecil said.

A portion of that building is closed to the public, and five affected vendors will be relocated to other areas of the market until repairs can be made, he said.

“Vendors will be bringing in new product and restocking, so we’ll be ready to go,” Cecil said.
The market is located at 2914 Sandy Ridge Road. Hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
