Matt Coffay, an Asheville Democratic candidate who announced his intent to challenge U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows for the 11th House district seat, has dropped out of the race. Coffay, 30, made the announcement on his campaign Facebook page Tuesday evening, citing personal circumstances.
