The southeast is on the backside of a two-week heatwave; it’s not been fit outdoors at any hour for man or beast.  Corey Davis with the State Climatology Office for North Carolina talks about how long our reprieve might last:
“So the short answer is, at least for the next week or so, it looks like we’ll be right around normal temperatures, we’ll probably be upper 80’s to low 90’s for most of the week..."
