Reynolds cigarette sales continue to outperform rivals; California tax increase having impact

R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. again outperformed its manufacturing rivals in traditional and electronic cigarette performance during the latest four-week measuring period by Nielsen that ended July 15. However, it is becoming clearer that the $2-per-pack increase in the California tobacco excise tax is having an effect on the Big Three manufacturers’ sales volumes.
