California company plans solar farm in Browns Summit

A California company plans to build a solar farm on 25 acres in the Browns Summit area of Guilford County.
Santa Monica-based Cypress Creek Renewables plans to spend $5 million on the 5 megawatt solar panel farm northeast of the intersection of Turner Smith Road and N.C. 61 North. The farm will produce enough energy to supply power to about 1,000 homes on the Duke Energy grid. The company will produce the electricity and sell it to Duke.
