Report: Popular Pfafftown farmer died of heart condition while checking on power outage

A well-known local farmer who died early Sunday morning while checking on a power outage died of a heart condition, preliminary reports show. Gary Owen, 79, the owner of Gary’s Produce and a vendor at the Cobblestone Farmer’s Market in Old Salem, died of cardiac tamponade related to hypertension, according to the medical examiner at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
