The spotlight is getting brighter on 22nd Century Group Inc., a biotechnology company with a Mocksville production plant that could play a pivotal role in the Food and Drug Administration’s quest to drastically lower nicotine levels in traditional cigarettes.
The end result could be 22nd Century gaining federal regulatory approval of its very-low-nicotine cigarettes, which could lead to a sharp jump in revenue and a potential buyout by a global tobacco manufacturer.
