The WNC Farmers Market, which offers fresh local produce and goods seven days a week, will host a Tomato Tasting Day on Friday, Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors can learn about different varieties of tomatoes, including the Biltmore Tomato, developed in Western North Carolina. Dozens of varieties will be available for sample and purchase from vendors. Tomato experts also will answer questions about the differences between red and yellow, heirloom, vine-ripened, mountain-grown tomatoes and more.
