Recently, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA released a mid-season Atlantic hurricane update.  Applied climatologist with NC State Climate Office, Corey Davis goes over the revised numbers:
“So, back at the end of May when most of the major hurricane forecasts came out, the number  were generally near to slightly above normal."
