Governor Roy Cooper declared a State of Emergency for all of North Carolina starting at 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
This comes as Hurricane Irma bears down on the Caribbean islands. The rest of its track is still up in the air, though its looking more like parts of Florida will be affected. Governor Cooper says no matter where you live in the state, everyone should be taking this storm seriously and start preparing now, as it's still not clear where we might see Irma's affects.
