The N.C. Mountain State Fair will be closed Monday. Fair officials made the decision Sunday in conjunction with state emergency management, local safety personnel and law enforcement. “We have been monitoring the path of Hurricane Irma closely over the past week. For the safety of our fair-goers, exhibitors and staff, we have decided to close the fair on Monday, Sept. 11,” said fair Manager Matt Buchanan.
