Anyone that’s farmed in the Carolinas for any length of time knows that sooner or later they’re going to be affected by a tropical storm or hurricane.  Jay Sullivan and his family have a diversified row crop and hog operation in Sampson County, North Carolina, and Sullivan says he tries to stay prepared 12 months out of the year: “Probably number one, just like everyone else around here, we’re in the middle of harvest.  We’re in the middle of tobacco harvest, and corn harvest is upon us."
