The last time we spoke with NC State Extension Corn Specialist Dr. Ron Heiniger, he was almost in tears thinking about the potential losses from Hurricane Irma as she barreled towards the best corn crop most North Carolina producer remember ever having.  As we know now, Irma spared the Tarheel State, but Heiniger says the all out push to harvest as much as possible did producers a favor:
