Pork is the leading protein food source throughout Southeast Asia. The Pork Checkoff led an 11-day trade mission to Japan and China. National Pork Board Vice President Steve Rommereim says China has a huge domestic swine industry…
“Basically, they’re 98% self-sufficient in China.   But, what’s interesting, that 2% that’s left that they go to other countries for what’s left, is just a huge number.  Five-percent of their consumption in China is our entire production in America of pork.”
