COUNTY EXTENSION AGENT REPORTS
Dry conditions are a hindrance to fall planting but it has been great
weather for a third cutting of hay. Janice Nicholson- Rutherford
County Extension


Franklin County is still extremely dry. Pastures renovation is
becoming difficult due to the 25 day drought. Planting of small
grains are slow as well. We have received a limited amount of
rainfall, but we could use more. Hopefully, we will receive it this

No rain last week. Very dry. Lots of hay baling going on (fescue).
Paul McKenzie- Warren County Extension


Finally received some rain, some areas were close to an inch
while others were considerably less. Danelle Cutting – Rowan

Extremely dry, with above average temperatures. Paige Burns –

A few growers are planting rapeseed this year. Norman Harrell –
Wilson County Extension


Has been very dry for the last few weeks. Cotton and soybean
harvest is underway. Peanuts and Sweet Potato's are being dug.
Corn and tobacco harvest is wrapping up. Blake Sandlin -

Dry weather has allowed for significant gains in harvest of all
crops. Rain is needed in much of the region for the remaining
soybean crop. Cotton and peanut yields are reported as excellent
so far. Most of the corn crop in this region has been above
average except for some areas which did not receive needed

Dry spell came to end on October 7th with a good widespread
rainfall of 2" in valleys and nearly 7" on Cashiers Plateau from
Tropical Depression Nate on September 7-8. Temperatures have
been near normal with above normal in later half of period. Cover

Extremely dry pasture/ hayfields in bad shape feeding hay, other
crops suffering from dry conditions, tobacco, soybeans. Gary
