COUNTY EXTENSION AGENT REPORTS Dry conditions are a hindrance to fall planting but it has been great weather for a third cutting of hay. Janice Nicholson- Rutherford County Extension Franklin County is still extremely dry. Pastures renovation is becoming difficult due to the 25 day drought. Planting of small grains are slow as well. We have received a limited amount of rainfall, but we could use more. Hopefully, we will receive it this week. Charles Mitchell – Franklin County Extension

Has been very dry for the last few weeks. Cotton and soybean harvest is underway. Peanuts and Sweet Potato's are being dug. Corn and tobacco harvest is wrapping up. Blake Sandlin - Duplin County Extension
Dry weather has allowed for significant gains in harvest of all crops. Rain is needed in much of the region for the remaining soybean crop. Cotton and peanut yields are reported as excellent so far. Most of the corn crop in this region has been above average except for some areas which did not receive needed rainfall in time. Georgia Love – Agronomist Region 5
Dry spell came to end on October 7th with a good widespread rainfall of 2" in valleys and nearly 7" on Cashiers Plateau from Tropical Depression Nate on September 7-8.
