Non-GMO crops give farmers a marketing option

Ray Massey knows farmers are always looking for ways to get the most out of their crops. Massey, a University of Missouri Extension professor in the department of agriculture and applied economics, says some farmers in Missouri have looked into growing non-GMO crops to get a premium. It’s based on consumer preferences, Massey says. “As far as I can tell, there’s no difference scientifically between GMO and non-GMO, but if people will pay more for something, we’ll supply it. If (farmers) can supply it, go for it. We’ll supply anything that you can pay for.”
