When people talk about jobs in manufacturing, it can be hard to imagine anything other than performing menial tasks on an assembly line. Thanks to advances in technology, those images are, as students visiting manufacturing plants around Eastern North Carolina on Tuesday found out, quite outdated. “It’s a whole different world today and I think we need to educate our kids,” said Lenoir County Economic Development director Mark Pope.
