Expert: GMOs help farms

As part of an ongoing commitment to supporting local farms, the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted a talk by Troy L. Ott, professor of reproductive physiology at Penn State, on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) during a luncheon at Spyglass Ridge Winery Thursday.Ott sought to provide a level of understanding about GMOs, which have allowed farmers to cut the number of dairy cows from 27 million in 1945 to 9.2 million today and still produce 500 percent more milk, Ott said.
