FSIS called out on foreign audit reports

USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service needs to improve how it ensures that foreign trading partners have meat safety systems equivalent to that of the U.S., USDA's Office of the Inspector General found in a 
new report. It highlighted the fact FSIS doesn't do in-country audits all that often after it clears a country to ship meat products to U.S. consumers. The report called for shoring up policies around in-country audits, in particular.
